  • Evans School Alumna Helps Create New ABC Special on Homeland Security

    Robin Groth (Executive MPA ‘08) served as a field director/producer for a new 13-part series for ABC called Homeland Security USA that will debut in early January. The reality series gives viewers a unique inside view of the daily work of agencies within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the U.S. Coast Guard. The premiere episode, "This is Your Car on Drugs," will air at 8 p.m. on January 6, showing viewers the internal workings of some of the busiest international entry points into the United States.

  • Hubert G. Locke Receives ACLU-WA's Highest Honor

    The American Civil Liberties Union of Washington (ACLU-WA) awarded Evans School Professor and Dean Emeritus Hubert G. Locke the 2008 William O. Douglas Award, the organization's highest honor, for his lifetime commitment to defending human and civil rights.

  • Daniel J. Evans Delivers Lecture on Transformative Elections in the U.S.

    Former Washington State Governor and Evans School Visiting Practitioner-in-Residence Daniel J. Evans delivered a lecture titled "Was this a Transformational Election?: Challenges Facing a New Administration" at the inaugural Edward Wenk Jr. Endowed Lectureship in Technology and Public Policy at the UW Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.  Read the transcript (104 KB PDF)

  • Fellows & Scholars Celebrate FIUTS’ 60th Anniversary

    Several Hubert H. Humphrey Fellows and Afghan Scholars took part in the 60th anniversary celebration of the Foundation for
    International Understanding Through Students (FIUTS). The celebration included a CulturalFest on November 5 in the HUB Ballroom and a dinner on November 8 at Ocean City Chinese Restaurant in Seattle. See photos
