Daniel Carlson and Deric Gruen Complete Report for WSDOT

Daniel Carlson and MPA student Deric Gruen co-authored a report with UW research strategist Jennifer Thacker for the Washington State Legislature and Department of Transportation (WSDOT) titled “Transportation Demand Management Strategies for Schools Phase II Report: Reducing Auto Congestion Around Schools.”

The report completes the second half of a two-phase project started in September 2007. The first phase produced a report titled “Transportation Demand Strategies for Schools Phase 1” that provided a review of literature dealing with commute travel reductions, school sitting criteria, and examples from other states and jurisdictions. The report was also co-authored by Gruen, and alumni Malia Langworthy (MPA ‘07) and Jana Wright (MPA ‘08).
