Ken Smith Receives National Award from Association of Government Accountants

Evans School Senior Lecturer Ken Smith is the recipient of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA) 2012 Cornelius E. Tierney/Ernst & Young Research Award. The award recognizes an individual who throughout his or her career has made continuous contributions to governmental financial management by direct participation in research activities and/or through encouragement and support of others engaged in government financial management research.

The award was conferred in recognition of Smith’s innovative research efforts to enrich and improve methods of governmental accounting and budgeting, increase the accountability and the transparency of governmental performance measurement, and inspire government accountants, auditors, and financial managers to be more accountable.
