Education

The Nancy Bell Evans Center on Nonprofits & Philanthropy serves as an incubator of research-based nonprofit and philanthropic education at the Evans School and across the University of Washington by identifying, developing, and supporting advanced learning opportunities for graduate students and executive-level professionals.

Our three main partnerships include the:

  • Advanced Board Leadership with ArtsFund, Social Venture Partners, and the United Way of King County, which provides people who have at least three years experience on a nonprofit board, have taken a leadership role on a board, and have completed basic board training courses with a course that goes far beyond the usual orientation to board roles and responsibilities.  Two-session course dates:  October 29 and November 19, 2009
  • Nonprofit Executive Leadership Institute with Cascade Executive Programs at the Evans School, which offers a five-day program in a retreat setting to enhance the strategic and visionary thinking of nonprofit executives  Application Deadline:  December 11, 2009
  • DCSCS Exchange Program (Developing Civil Society Education via Case Studies: A North American Perspective) with the Fund for the Improvement of Post Secondary Education, which provides students from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico a chance to take innovative case-study-based nonprofit courses designed specifically for the program, study with cross-cultural teams, and gain hands-on experience with local civil society organizations.  Students receive transferable credits and a $,3000 stipend while paying only $375 in UW program fees ($0 tuition while on exchange).  Application deadline was October 19, 2009
