Voluntary Regulation of NGOs and Nonprofits: An Accountability Club Framework by Associate Professor Mary Kay Gugerty and professor of political science, Aseem Prakash. The book examines the use of voluntary accountability clubs – a format used by nonprofits to respond to demonstrate accountability to stakeholders – in the United States, the Netherlands, Africa, and Central Europe.

Soliciting for Charitable Contributions in Washington: An Overview (1.1 MB PDF) by Nancy Bell Evans Center Senior Advisor Putnam Barber covers the basics of Washington's charitable contributions law. It is designed to assist board members, fundraising staff, and anyone planning to seek contributions for a charitable purpose in Washington state with understanding how state statute and regulations may affect their activities. Summary of Findings (25.8 KB PDF) from the Seattle portion of the International JIGS Project, a series of broad surveys of civil society organizations under the leadership of Yutaka Tsujinaka of the University of Tsukuba in Japan. Nonprofit Board Excellence Workshop (1.7 MB PDF) by Trisha Matthieu is a training workbook for board members with useful insights for anyone involved with nonprofit organizations. The workbook was developed in 2004 with support from the Scottish Rite Scholarship Foundation of Washington and the Nancy Bell Evans Center on Nonprofits & Philanthropy.
Recipes for Success: 97 Innovations and Solutions Developed by Emergency Food Providers in Washington State (980 KB PDF) by Evans School alumna Laura Pierce (MPA ’96) is a best-practices guide of handling challenges in emergency food programs operations or delivery services. The guide was created for the Washington Food Coalition with the assistance of Nancy Bell Evans Center Senior Advisor Cory Sbararo and former research assistant Mara Brain.
