  • Nonprofit Board Excellence Workshop (1.7 MB PDF) by Trisha Matthieu is a training workbook for board members with useful insights for anyone involved with nonprofit organizations. The workbook was developed in 2004 with support from the Scottish Rite Scholarship Foundation of Washington and the Nancy Bell Evans Center on Nonprofits & Philanthropy.
  • The Guide to Starting a Nonprofit (175 KB PDF) by 501 Commons (formerly Executive Service Corps of Washington) describes the steps you should take to getting started and includes many links on topics such as: board development, nonprofit finances, business and strategic planning, and other topics important to making nonprofits successful.
